I like to make comedic tutorials that are hopefully effective to the learner. I also like making saxophone memes and nerding out for new sax gear. Thanks for checking out my channel.

How to ACTUALLY Use Books to Improve at Jazz
Просмотров 43 тыс.6 месяцев назад
Books are epic. But some people have a book phobia. I get it, because yes, if all you did was read books in the practice room, then for sure you can't get better at improvisation with just that alone. But that doesn't mean to throw the books away! If you are smart, you can figure out where books can play a very helpful role in your development. 25 Melodic Etudes on Jazz Standards (use code NG5...

This is a vlog that laid dormant in my iPhone photo gallery, until now! The Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival is starting back up soon (February 2024), so I figured now is a good time to post this! Thank you Paul Carr for the invitation, and wow, it was so great to see so many players, including Kenny Garrett! Kenny Garrett's "Song For DiFang" was the first jazz song I truly fell in love with. How Good is the Nexus Edge Alto Mouthpiece?
Просмотров 16 тыс.7 месяцев назад
I received this mouthpiece over a month ago but still hadn't touched it, because I love my Meyer 6M (refaced by Thomas Occhiuto). Finally, for this video, I picked it up and tried it. And wow! I am genuienly surprised at how good it is. I even did a blind A&B test to my brother Zack and he went with the Nexus. I never thought something could dethrone my baby (my Meyer), but here we are. I will ...

Let's Try Out the New "SYOS Original" Mouthpieces!
Very very nice half a hour trip. Thank you
Sounds amazing when you play it.
with affiliate links, you cant really say "honest"
They all sound pretty good it would come to player preference on what he/she is hearing while playing, I d be happy with anyone of those they sound great.
This is so helpful! Thank you very much 🌟
What type of neck does the YAS 62III come with?
Tabs please?
I’ve been looking into the signatures for a while. Tired of breaking in v16/21 and only get a few good days (2-4 hours per day) of good clear full bodied lows (anything below e) the airyness is nice. Seems like the airyness of the American cut is what I’m looking for. Signature seems to work well with pieces that require fast action. The American seems like a very quintessential blues/jazz reed. Love the video.
4:30 cheesecake
Not the reed 😢😢😢😢😢
More like Chief Sexecutive Officer

Hi what tip opening and reed strength will help better altisimmo ?thanks
Thank you so much for this video. I played clarinet in school so fellow woodwind here. My son (he's 11 years old) wants to play tenor saxophone. I wonder if jean Paul makes a beginner Tenor or if beginners should avoid tenor until they have experience with Alto sax? from my experience, I had a nice clarinet that gave a good sound and that made it more fun to play. I'd try to play my friends' clarinets and some of them were really difficult for me! I will add that I have had asthma all my life so that was a factor in my playing abilities. Can't imagine I would have stuck with music very long if my mom didn't invest in that awesome Buffet clarinet. All to say, I wanted to find a good starter instrument for my son so he too would have a good experience starting out. This was a very helpful video thanks so much!
Would it be wise of me to buy a beginner professional jean paul as-860 anniversary edition which costs 1500 over the student as-400 which costs 500, btw both of these r alto saxophones n im new to playing the sax
My friend tried to make me go even though I play trombone, in the end he couldn’t even go because he got sick. I feel bad for him
I'm saving up for a cannonball T5-B big bell and a selmer concept, are cannonballs good?
Where do you get all of those duets from
How’s is the 62 with the v1 neck?
How’s is the 62 with the v1 neck?
Can you please bring him back to make a classical tenor video.
I think im stuggling to play sax the nasic instrument to me guitar piano drum and trumpet🤕
Review the xaphoon
That’s a damn good horn. I hope that price doesn’t go up dramatically because I’m hoping to save up enough money to buy one. (I’m an alto player but I’m looking to buy my first tenor.) Also, not to sound like a total hipster, but I love the small-business, DIY style of musician-made instruments. As great as Selmer or Yamaha horns are, I especially love saxophones that are made by players and are sold by players.
My Mario kart lick is way better LOL ruclips.net/user/shorts2khx18bYnho?si=JL_wCj9ZbZaGdbVp
Your Mario kart lick is nothing against mine ruclips.net/user/shorts2khx18bYnho?si=JL_wCj9ZbZaGdbVp LOL 😂
I would love to do this !
this worked 1111x times better for me than other tutorials, and as a self-taught saxophonist I bow to you
Saying that practicing 12 hours a day is not worth it with Parker behind you is hilarious😂
Desde quando precisa fazer boca de sapo pra tocar Jazz Sax?
Is that a modern or vintage meyer?
im auditioning for jazz 💀
I have a jupiter alto sax and it's really nice
3:30 💀
I used Flavoreeds when I was learning alto sax in 4th grade, and the blue raspberry 1.5 reeds were my jam, they perfectly complimented my mouth full of braces with teal and hot pink bracket bands because 90's 😅
Nice outro
Its always the reed
Okay now all 12 keys
Excellent video from you two! Loved the Kokiri Forest touch at the sound off. 😂
Soon as I press they go straight down…😂
Coulda fooled me, thought it be the Mario lick.
SUS?
i bought it, it really sounds good, for the price you really cant go wrong, i dont understand how they make money out of this !
Been thinking about switching from tenor trombone to sax
"Hey, Welcome to my Saxophone Cavern hahahahahahahahaha
I love the way u talk
I keep coming back to this video for the jazz Ibert… genius 😂
Wait What? Ken Beason passed away?🙏
What reed and mouthpiece should I get if I want to play more of a jazz way
Meyer for alto or Otto Link for tenor are good choices. I like Vandoren ZZs for reeds.
@@Jordan-ll5eq thank you and do you also do lessons
